How it came to pass ...
To cut a long story short: I always wanted to go to Australia. I always wanted to stay for a while in an English-speaking country. I needed a holiday and some time off from Trier very badly. My university has this exchange program with two Australian universities. Now, use simple logic and you'll see what happened. I applied for the exchange program with Newcastle uni, but there were no students from Newcastle going to Germany this year - so they sent me to Armidale instead. Which is by far the worst punishment I've ever received. Let me issue a warning for you right here: "Don't ever go to Armidale! If you do, do not stay there for more than 24 hours!" I'm being serious, this town sucks major arse, there's nothing going on, people dress K-Mart style all the time and the climate is probably, definitely, the worst of all Australia. I'd rather be buried alive or subjected to Phil Collins' music for the rest of my life than ever have to stay there again.
Well, anyway, now you know why I came to Australia - if you wanna know what
happened there - go ahead. The content of these travel journal pages
may be considered offensive to stupid people ... hope you're not one
of them. In the info section you can find addresses of cool places
(hostels, shops, restaurants, ...) I visited ... but of course only
the recommendable ones. They come with absolutely no warranty whatsoever
and may well be outdated by the time you're reading these lines.
Well, to a naive reader the journal might convey the impression that
Australia sucks - far from it! It's a lovely country and I had a beautiful time
down there - but you should avoid Armidale at any cost as it sucks ass. For
the simple minded ones: Armidale bad - Australia good. And that's the bottom line.
